Welcome to the University Center at Texas A&M University! We're glad that you stopped by to visit our cyber-space location...but we hope that you'll make it a point to visit us in person real soon as well! Whether you stop for a meal from the Commons' Market Food Court or just catch up with friends, the Commons - a breathtaking five-story atrium with dining room seating for over 300 people is the crossroads fo the University Center. The balconies overlooking the Commons offer plenty of comfy seating to stop, relax, read the newspaper and "people watch". Make the UC Information Desk your first stop to find out the "Who, What, When & Where" of campus life and services. If you are interested in becoming one of the student employees that helps keep the UC going...ask the Information Desk staff how you can apply. Pick up important campus publications...browse the bulletin boards throughout the UC to keep in touch as well...or just logon to one of the free e-mail/WEB browsing computers located on the 2nd floor near the Gameroom. El Mercado- your "anytime-anything" convenience store - has what you need when you need it. Other retail services will include Campus Copies, a full-service Post Office, the SandDollars Card service center and full-service Wells Fargo branch with a 24-hour ATM. Lockers and vending machines are located on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors.
The Breakers Gameroom is a great place to meet friends for a quick challenge match or an evening-long marathon of pool, videogames, darts and more. Lounges throughout the building encourage hanging out, studying, relaxing, and socializing...including a TV lounge - The Channels - on the 1st floor and a place for quiet conversation - Legacy Hall across from the West Entrance is a great reading or group study spot when not reserved for special events. The University Bookstore offers school/art supplies, textbooks, logo apparel, computer software and an extensive leisure reading area to check out the latest bestsellers. As THE place for on-campus programs, events and meetings, the University Center's event rooms will accommodate 8 to 1000. A variety of student and University-sponsored activities, such as lectures, concerts, exhibits, conferences, symposia, socials, and performances happen at the UC. Focusing on student needs means the UC is home to many departments that enhance the daily living-learning experience on campus. Most student groups, including Student Government, the Campus Activities Board, the Office of Greek Life, and the Island Waves newspaper, can be found in/around the spacious Student Organization Center (SOC) on the 2nd floor; the staff in the nearby Offices of the University Center and Student Activities help students get involved and assist in ensuring successful programming planning, execution, and evalutaion. Career Services, The Offic of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Student Support Services are also conveniently centralized on the 3rd floor of the UC. The Women's Center and the Islander Cultural Alliance are also located on the 3rd floor as well. Our goals in the University Center are to:
